I love my fireplace. Been using it for about 2 months (first time homeowner). Mostly been using real wood bundled and sold at grocery store. I got my hands on a big round oak log and just dropped into fireplace thinking I had a big daddy sweet piece of wood. I do the gas until wood catches. It hasn't and then I started reading online about seasoned and uncut etc and I'm thinking I'm definitely doing this wrong for sure. Is it dangerous (fumes wise) bc it's not debarked (creosote)/ Is it foolish because it's not seasoned? And it may even be a tad wet inside bc it was raining (many days ago though) so maybe high moisture still? I just turned off gas and the ends were red so it caught a little. Should I just dump this thing or keep firing it up and it will catch eventually and be ok? Sorry so long, but I like this stuff and want to learn as much possible since I’m a total novice...
