I want to get something that will go through oak as well as softer woods.

My brother has a tree cutting business and he uses Stihl chainsaws. He doesn't have any problems. Been doing this for years.

all the pro's use Stihl, they are a bit more expensive than the rest, If you are just cutting firewood, I would purchase a more inexpensive model and keep the chain sharp, thats what counts
